Governing mayor of Berlin visits Uzbekistan

The visit was dedicated to the 20th anniversary of establishment of twin-city relations between Berlin and Tashkent. Klaus Wowereit met with the Deputy Prime minister of Uzbekistan Ulugbek Roqulov and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov.

The main topics of negotiations between the sides focused on projects of cooperation between Berlin and Tashkent, perspectives of bilateral relations and joint global tasks.

On 30 April 1993, Berlin and Tashkent signed a joint statement on establishments of bilateral cooperation, which was expanded through inking framework agreement on 6 November 1996.

At the beginning of cooperation, Berlin helped Tashkent to train specialists on development of the city, construction and transport, technical equipment, for example, fire machines. Last time, heads of two cities met in Berlin in 2009.
