Goods and services in the consumer market increased on average by 1.2%

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In November 2021, goods and services in the consumer market of Uzbekistan increased on average by 1.2%, the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said.

Since the beginning of this year, the increase in prices in the consumer sector amounted to 8.6%, in annual terms it reached 10.3%.

According to calculations, the average monthly growth of the consolidated CPI for January-November 2021 was 0.8%.

The short-term consolidated CPI in November 2021 was 0.3 points lower than in November 2020 and 0.5 points lower than in November 2019.

The consolidated CPI in annual terms (compared to November of the previous year) for November 2021 was, respectively, 1.0 and 5.3 points lower than in November 2020 and 2019.

The level of this indicator for January-November 2021 (compared to December of the previous year) was 0.9 points lower than in January-November 2020, and 4.7 points lower than the same indicator for January-November 2019.

The leaders in the growth of prices and tariffs for the month in November 2021 were food products, which increased in price by an average of 1.9% over the month. Non-food products for the same period added in price by 0.8%, paid services to the population - by 0.5%.

In annual terms, food products in November 2021 rose in price by 13.4%, maintaining the leadership in price growth among the three main groups.

Since November 2020, non-food products have increased in price by 7.9%, services - by 8.1%.

In general, for the period from the beginning of 2021, food products continue to hold the lead in price growth (10.8%). Non-food products for the specified period became more expensive by 7.0%, services - by 7.1%.

In November 2021, due to the rise in food prices, the consolidated CPI for the month increased by 0.8 p.p. (a month earlier also 0.8 pp), non-food products - by 0.3 pp. (versus 0.4 p.p. in October 2021). The growth in tariffs for services added another 0.1 percentage points to the consolidated indicator. (a month earlier also 0.1 p.p.).

The dominant influence of price changes on food products also manifested itself in the structure of the consolidated CPI in annual terms for November 2021. The rise in prices for them increased this indicator by 5.7 percentage points. (over 55% of the total impact of goods and services). At the same time, compared to the previous month, a decrease in the contribution from both food and non-food products was recorded (by 0.2 and 0.1 percentage points, respectively), while the contribution of growth in prices for services remained at the same level.

The share of the contribution of growth in food prices in the total increase in the consolidated CPI in January-November this year reached 52.9% of the total increase in the consolidated CPI (against 50.4% in January-October this year). Non-food products accounted for 28.0%, services - 19.1% of the total contribution of all goods and services covered by price monitoring.

The increase in the CPI for food products in November of the current year for the month was 1.9%. This is 0.5 points lower than in November 2020 and 1.1 points lower than in November 2019.

The growth in the annual CPI in this group in November 2021 was at the level of 13.4%. This is, respectively, 2.9 and 5.0 points lower than the same indicator for November 2020 and 2019. In general, in January-November 2021, food prices increased by 10.8%, which is 1.8 points lower than in the corresponding period of 2020, and 4 points lower than in January-November 2019.

The increase in the CPI for non-food products in November this year amounted to 0.8% over the month. This is 0.2 points higher than the average monthly growth for JanuaryNovember 2021, 0.1 points lower than in November 2020 and is equivalent to the corresponding indicator for November 2019.

The increase in the annual CPI in this group in November 2021 was recorded at around 7.9%, which is 0.4 points lower than in November last year and 3.9 points lower than in November 2019. Relative to December 2020, non-food products became more expensive by 7.0%, which is 0.8 points lower than in January-November last year, and 3.4 points lower than in the same period in 2019.

The increase in the CPI for paid services in November this year amounted to 0.5% for the month. This is 0.4 points lower than last November, and 0.1 points lower than the same indicator for November 2019.

The growth in the annual CPI in this group in November 2021 was 8.1%, which is 1.6 points higher than in November last year and 8.2 points lower than in November 2019.

Since the beginning of 2021, paid services to the population have become more expensive by 7.1%. This, in turn, is 1 point higher than in January-November 2020, and 7.8 points lower than in the same period in 2019.

Of the main product groups in this section, the top three in terms of price growth in JanuaryNovember 2021 included fat and oil products (25.8%), vegetables, tubers, plantains and legumes (13.6%), as well as sugar, confectionery. products and desserts (13.0%).

The listed groups are also leading in terms of price growth in annual terms. Thus, fat and oil products, compared to November 2020, became more expensive by 28.6%, vegetables, tubers, plantains and legumes - by 23.8%, sugar, confectionery and desserts - by 14.7%.

In November 2021, among the main foodstuffs (excluding fruit and vegetable products), prices for eggs (5.4%), milk and granulated sugar (4.1%), legs and chicken drumsticks (3 , 9%), other poultry meat (3.7%). Wheat flour added 1.6% in price over the month. A slight decrease in prices was noted for rice of all sorts and rice cuts (-0.8%), as well as for beef and mutton (within 0.1-0.8%).

In relation to December 2020, the leading positions in terms of price growth belong to vegetable oil (31.1%) and sand sugar (23.4%). A decrease in prices was recorded for rice and rice cuts (-2.2%). In annual terms, inflationary processes were most clearly manifested in the growth of prices for vegetable oil (34.3%) and granulated sugar (26.0%), while a decrease in prices was recorded for rice and rice cuts (-2.3%).

In November 2021, tomatoes (1.5 times) and bell peppers (1.4 times) became the leaders in the growth of prices for the month from fruit and vegetable products. Cucumbers and eggplants (1.3 times), as well as cabbage (15.8%), garlic (13.7%) and potatoes (10.0%) have significantly increased. Carrots (-24.9%), turnips (-8.3%), radishes (-7.0%), beets (-5.2%), lemons (-4.4 %) and bananas (-3.5%). Carrots continue to hold the lead in terms of price growth both from the beginning of the year and in annual terms (1.7 times). The most significant price reduction both to the level of December and November 2020 was noted for cucumbers (2.4 times and 1.5 times, respectively) and bell pepper (2.3 times and 1.3 times, respectively).

The main inflationary factor in section I. "Food products and nonalcoholic drinks" in November 2021 was the rise in prices for fruits and vegetables, dairy products and eggs, as well as for cereals and cereals. The total contribution of the listed groups of goods to the growth of the consolidated CPI for the month reached 0.57 percentage points, which is over 74% of the influence of the observed food products and nonalcoholic beverages, and about 46.7% of the total contribution of all observed goods and services

The top three in terms of contribution to the growth of the consolidated CPI for JanuaryNovember 2021 from the main food and non-alcoholic beverages groups included price changes for meat and oil and fat products, as well as for vegetables, tubers, plantains and legumes. In total, due to the growth in prices for the three indicated groups, the consolidated CPI since the beginning of the year has increased by 2.47 percentage points, which is 57.7% of the total contribution of food products and non-alcoholic beverages and over 28% of the total increase in the consolidated CPI.

In November of this year, alcoholic beverages rose 1.2% over the month, including alcoholic beverages and liqueurs - by 1.3%, beer - by 1.2%, wine - by 0.9%. During the same period, tobacco products rose in price by 0.4%. Alcoholic beverages increased in price by 9.3% to the level of December 2020, including spirits and liqueurs - by 10.5%, wine - by 6.8%, beer - by 6.1%. Since the beginning of the year, tobacco products have risen in price by 11.7%. In annual terms, alcoholic beverages rose in price by an average of 10.5%, tobacco products - by 12.5%. Alcoholic drinks and liqueurs, compared to November 2020, have become more expensive by 12.1%, wine - by 7.3%, beer - by 6.5%.

In November 2021, monthly rentals for residential premises increased by 1.2%. At the same time, prices and tariffs for the main types of utilities remained at the level of the previous month. Services for the maintenance and repair of residential premises increased in price by 0.8% over the month. In a number of regions, service charges in multiapartment buildings increased (within 0.6-8.8%), as a result of which the price index for this type of service on average in the republic amounted to 1.2%. As for the increase in prices since the beginning of this year and in relation to November 2020, the leadership belongs to services for cold water supply and sewerage, which became 1.6 times more expensive in January-November 2021, and in annual terms - 1.7 times.

The most significant rise in prices in this section in just a month is for services in sewing textiles used in households (1.7%). The leaders in the growth of prices both from the beginning of the year and in relation to November last year were services for disinfection and destruction of pests (15.8%).

Of the main observed groups of goods and services in the healthcare sector in November 2021, immunization services (1.1%) became the leaders in price growth over the month.

The superiority in price growth both in JanuaryNovember of this year and to the level of November 2020 belongs to services for diagnostic imaging and medical laboratories (an increase of 10.9% and 12.6%, respectively).

In November of this year, gasoline retained its leadership in terms of price growth in this section. Over the month, it has risen in price by another 9.8%. On the contrary, propane for this period became cheaper on average in the republic by 7.2%, while prices for methane remained at the level of the previous month. Since the beginning of the year, prices for gasoline have increased 1.6 times, propane - by 18.3%, methane - by 3.5%. Compared to November 2020, gasoline became 1.7 times more expensive, propane - by 13.4%, methane - by 4.7%. Of the other groups of goods and services in the section, the most noticeable, both in eleven months and in annual terms, rose in prices for services for the maintenance and repair of personal vehicles (by 14.5% and 17.9%, respectively).

In November of this year, the range of monthly price increases for the observed types of information and communication equipment ranged from 0.1% (stationary telephone equipment) to 0.5% (computers and tablets). Of the main monitored services in the field of information and communication, price increases in November of this year were recorded only for services for the repair of information and communication equipment (1.0%) and complex telecommunications services (0.7%). With a significant margin in terms of price increases both in January-November 2021 and in relation to November 2020, services for the repair of information and communication equipment are in the lead (14.4% and 16.9%, respectively).

In the field of education, in November this year, there was an increase in the cost of tutoring services (1.0%), as well as tuition fees for foreign language courses and similar educational courses (0.7%), while the level of prices in the field of paid preschool and higher education for the month has not changed. The leaders in price growth both in January-November 2021 and in annual terms are the services provided by state educational organizations in the field of preschool education (15.0%).

Prepared food in cafes, canteens and fast food outlets increased in price over the month within 2.4-2.9%. Fees for services of hotels, hotels and similar hotel services, as well as the cost of services for recreation centers remained at the level of the previous month. Leadership in price growth both in January-November of this year and in relation to November 2020 continues to be held by the services of recreation centers (18.2%).

The cost of insurance services has remained stable over the past twelve months. In the sphere of financial services, in November of this year, only a slight increase in fees for money transfers by 0.3% was recorded (the impact of changes in the exchange rate of the national currency against the US dollar). At the same time, since the beginning of 2021, financial services have become more expensive by 0.6%.

In annual terms, the increase in prices for financial services was recorded at the level of 0.8%, which was influenced by an increase in the cost of services of banking institutions by 2.6%, fees for money transfers - by 3.5%, as well as a decrease in fees for money transfer funds through electronic payment systems - by 5.0%.

In November 2021, of the main groups of goods and services in this section, higher than the average for the section (0.7%), the increase in prices was for the services of hairdressers and personal service establishments (1.2%), as well as for watch repair ( 1.0%). The leading positions in price growth in January-November 2021 are occupied by hairdressing services (21.9%) and legal services (20.7%). The leaders in the increase in prices, as compared to November last year, were the services of hairdressing salons (23.6%).

The unconditional dominance of the contribution of price changes for food and non-alcoholic beverages manifested itself in the structure of the contribution to the growth of the short-term summary indicator for November 2021. These goods accounted for over 63% of the total monthly CPI growth. A significant contribution was also made by price changes in the transport sector, which accounted for about 15.8%.

The domination of food inflation also manifested itself in the structure of the consolidated CPI for January-November 2021. Thus, due to the rise in prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages, the aggregate indicator since the beginning of the year has increased by 4.29 percentage points. with an overall increase of 8.6 p.p. In specific terms, food and non-alcoholic beverages account for slightly less than half of the total impact of the observed goods and services

In November 2021, food and non-alcoholic beverages accounted for over 52% of the total increase in the consolidated CPI in annual terms, which allows us to conclude that food inflation continues to dominate in the structure of the annual consolidated CPI.
