Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Starting from 27 January, the Uzbek side of the "Gisht-Kuprik" border checkpoint on the Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan border will be temporarily closed for construction and modernization work. This was reported by the press service of Kazakhstan’s Committee of State Revenues.
"Gisht-Kuprik," also known as "Chernyayevka," is one of the most popular pedestrian crossings on the Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan border. The Uzbek Customs Committee has not yet officially commented on the temporary closure of the checkpoint.
According to Kazakhstan’s side, due to the temporary closure of "Gisht-Kuprik," and based on agreements between the two countries, alternative border crossings for pedestrians, as well as for passenger cars and buses, will be available at the "Kaplanbek" (Kazakhstan) and "Navoi" (Uzbekistan, Tashkent Region) checkpoints.
Both sides have completed the modernization and technical equipment of the "Kaplanbek" and "Navoi" checkpoints, ensuring their readiness for operation. However, from January 27 to February 5, the flow of pedestrians, passenger cars, and buses will be limited due to commissioning work.
Starting from 5 February, these checkpoints will operate at full capacity. In the next phase, freight traffic will be allowed. It is noted that the "Kaplanbek" checkpoint has been built according to advanced international standards and is equipped with modern equipment for all types of state control.
