Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Russian gas giant Gazprom is increasing cooperation with Central Asian countries.
In October 2023, the company began gas supplies to Uzbekistan for the first time. This became possible thanks to reverse supplies through the Central Asia – Center gas pipeline system through the territory of Kazakhstan. In the shortest possible time, with the active participation of Gazprom specialists, the necessary diagnostic, repair and construction work was carried out in both countries.
According to the Russian company, the implementation of the project has significantly strengthened the energy security of Uzbekistan. Last winter, Gazprom even exceeded contractual obligations for gas supplies, demonstrating the high demand for Russian fuel and the importance of the new route.
To further improve the reliability of gas supply to the region, three important documents were signed in November 2023 at the St. Petersburg International Gas Forum. They are aimed at strengthening Gazprom’s long-term cooperation with Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan in the gas industry.
