The initiative is directed at supporting and providing alternatives resources of energy to farms, handicrafts, small social projects (hospitals, rural medical points) through installations of solar and wind power generation facilities.
On 20 December, the organizers announced that they will implement 10 pilot projects in various parts of Uzbekistan and handed over certificates to grant receivers.
One of reason for use of renewable energy is problems related to supply of energy to some rural districts, increasing level of energy use in farms, improving water supply, etc.
The project is aimed at supporting and ensuring alternative sources of energy of farms, handicrafts, small social objects (hospitals, rural medical points) through installation of solar and wind power facilities.
SISF carried out information campaign on new initiative in September-October 2010 and familiarized population of targeted regions with it. The organizers selected 10 pilot projects out of received 30 projects.
These projects will be implemented in various regions of Uzbekistan, including Karakalpakstan, Jizzakh region, Surkhandarya region, Ferghana region, etc.
The organizers noted that alternative energy will help decrease pollution of environment along with solving energy supply problems. It was said that Intellect Dialog LLC will supply combined solar and wing power generation facilities within the project.
