Fumihiko Kato becomes new Japan’s envoy to Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov received a newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan Fumihiko Kato on 8 April 2013.

Ambassador handed over copies of credentials, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan said.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged opinion on wide-range of issues related to cooperation between two nations in bilateral and multilateral formats.

It was noted that the sides pay great attention to implementation of agreements, reached during official visit of the Uzbek President Islam Karimov in Japan in February 2011.

At the meeting, the sides considered perspective directions of development of cooperation in political, cultural-humanitarian and other regions.

The sides discussed proposals on boosting contacts in various areas, including in trade-economic and investment spheres. They also discussed international and regional issues.

Fumihiko Kato replaced Yoshihisu Kuroda, who wrapped up his mission in Uzbekistan in February 2013.
