Fugitive Woman Arrested in Istanbul and Extradited to Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, in cooperation with the Consulate General of the Republic of Türkiye in Istanbul, conducted a major investigative operation resulting in the arrest of a fugitive wanted for committing a crime in Uzbekistan.
A key factor in the success of the operation was the coordinated effort between the Operational-Investigative Department of the Ministry and the liaison officer for internal affairs — the First Secretary of Uzbekistan’s Consulate General in Istanbul.
The suspect, identified as citizen I.U., born in 1981, had been placed on the wanted list by the Department of Internal Affairs of Namangan region. She is accused under Part 3 of Article 135 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Thanks to operational intelligence, her whereabouts in Istanbul were determined. On 17 June of this year, she was apprehended by Turkish law enforcement authorities and subsequently extradited to Uzbekistan in accordance with legal procedures for further investigation and prosecution.
