FSB says five terror attacks prevented with Uzbek cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) has stated that five planned terrorist attacks were prevented with the support of Uzbek security services.

The statement was made by FSB Director Alexander Bortnikov during a meeting of the Council of Heads of Security Agencies and Special Services of CIS member states.

According to him, cooperation between security services of Commonwealth of Independent States countries plays an important role in countering international terrorism and preventing security threats.

The FSB chief said that all planned attacks were stopped before they could be carried out.

Bortnikov also noted that earlier this year FSB officers, together with Tajik security services, identified and neutralized a terrorist group that was planning major attacks.

No further details about the prevented attacks or detained individuals were provided during the statement.
