French Ambassador visits Karshi and Shahrisabz
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) --
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Uzbekistan Francois Gauthier paid a visit to Karshi and Shahrisabz on 19-20 May 2013, the Embassy of France to Uzbekistan said.
Francois Gauthier visited Aq-Saray Palace of Amir Temur in Shahrisabz, where restoration works are underway. Ak-Saray square was built during Temir dynasty.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of France and Dordogne Department of France are financing restoration works. Dordogne Department also renders technical assistance.
The restoration works started in April 2012 and the works will be completed in autumn 2013, the Embassy said.
Citizens of Shahrisabz and tourists, including France, can familiarize with the project due to information placed at the sight.
The project is bright example of the Uzbek-French cooperation in culture sphere and it will improve attractiveness to the historic project.
