The embassy said that the mission was opened for development of military cooperation between France and Uzbekistan.

The mission, which started its work from 2 July, has two employees – Attaché on defense issues Lieutenant Colonel Jean-Philippe Tardieu and assistant Major Philippe Ribeiro.

They were appointed by the French Defense Minister and will obey to French Ambassador. The task of the mission is to consult envoy on military issues and development of bilateral issues in defence.

French embassy said that opening of the mission has significant importance in context of exit of French troops from Afghanistan, which borders with Uzbekistan.
