At the same time, Uzbekistan’s exports increased by 26.6% year-on-year to US$797.9 million in the reporting period and imports grew by 22.9% year-on-year to US$638.8 million.
Uzbekistan exported goods and services for US$355.6 million to the CIS states, which is 2.2 times up year-on-year. Exports to other countries decreased by 6.4% year-on-year to US$442.3 million.
The volume of imports from the CIS countries made up US$250.9 million in the reporting period, or grew by 43.9% year-on-year. Imports to other countries rose 12.2% year-on-year to US$387.9 million.
Current account balance surplus reached US$159.1 million in January 2011, including with the CIS states – US$104.7 million and other countries – US$54.4 million.
Cotton-fiber and energy resources were main export items of Uzbekistan in January 2011. Share of cotton-fiber in exports reached 27.5% and energy resources – 23.1%.
Share of ferrous and non-ferrous metals in exports made up 12% and services – 10%, the committee underlined.
Main import items of Uzbekistan were machinery and equipment, which accounted 43% of Uzbekistan’s imports in the reporting period.
Uzbekistan also imported chemical products and plastics (15% in total imports), food products (13.2%), as well as energy resources and oil products (7.5%).
