First Korea–Central Asia Summit Postponed to 2026
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The inaugural summit between the Republic of Korea and the five Central Asian countries, originally scheduled for 2025, has been postponed to next year. This was announced by First Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, Park Yong Joo.
According to the diplomat, the decision was made due to domestic political circumstances in Seoul as well as the tight schedules of the participating countries. He noted that all possible options were carefully reviewed, but it was not possible to agree on a mutually acceptable date for the high-level meeting this year.
It is worth recalling that the agreement to hold the summit was reached in the summer of 2024, following a visit by former South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol to three countries in the region.
The upcoming summit is expected to open a new chapter in the development of political dialogue and regional partnership between Korea and Central Asia.
