Ferghana Region and Selangor Expand Cooperation Ties
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Ferghana Region of Uzbekistan and Malaysia’s Selangor state have agreed to expand interregional cooperation and develop joint projects across a range of economic sectors, following talks between regional officials.
The agreement was reached during a meeting between Ferghana Region governor Khayrullo Bozorov and Selangor Chief Minister Amirudin Shari as part of a working visit by the Uzbek delegation to Malaysia. Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Malaysia, Karomidin Gadoev, also took part in the discussions.
The sides exchanged views on the development of bilateral relations, strengthening interregional engagement and implementing joint initiatives in various areas of the economy. Bozorov noted that Uzbekistan–Malaysia relations had reached a new level, driven by friendly ties between the leaders of the two countries and a shared commitment to mutually beneficial cooperation.
Special attention during the talks was given to the establishment of sister-region relations, the expansion of business contacts, investment cooperation and experience sharing. Participants discussed potential joint projects in information technology, electronics and semiconductor industries, innovative manufacturing, smart agriculture, green energy, logistics and pilgrimage tourism.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the sides agreed to prepare a joint roadmap and implement initiatives aimed at further strengthening economic and friendly ties between Ferghana Region and Selangor state.
Selangor is one of Malaysia’s most developed and industrialized regions, making a significant contribution to the national economy and serving as a key hub for electronics, semiconductors, pharmaceuticals and the food industry.
