Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – Base oils produced at the Ferghana Oil Refinery have successfully undergone the registration procedure in accordance with the European REACH (Registration, Evaluation, and Authorization of Chemicals) regulation.
This regulation governs the production and circulation of all chemical substances in European Union member countries and serves as a kind of safety passport for chemical substances, including petroleum products, used within the EU territory.
Registration under the REACH regulation is a mandatory requirement for the import of base oils into the EU territory for subsequent distribution among end consumers. Compliance with the regulation is monitored by the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA).
“Obtaining the REACH certificate became possible thanks to the implementation of a comprehensive program to improve the quality of produced base oils, carried out by the Saneg company in collaboration with our oil business operator, SEG Motol. Our strategic priority is to have an active presence in the European market, as well as to implement an ambitious program to develop industrial and automotive oils that meet international quality standards,” emphasized Saneg CEO Tulkun Yusupov.
Thanks to the implementation of new technologies, catalyst replacement, and equipment modernization, it was possible to improve the purification of oil fractions from sulfur, nitrogen, aromatic hydrocarbons, and resin-forming substances, which have a negative impact on some oil characteristics. As a result, parameters such as carcinogen content, flash point, volatility, and color were brought to the level corresponding to European standards.
As a result of passing the European registration procedure, base oils from the Ferghana Oil Refinery were recognized as meeting the requirements of ECHA for SN (solvent neutral) oils with viscosities of 150 and 350, allowing SN-150 and SN-350 products from the Ferghana Oil Refinery to enter the European market. This is also an important step towards incorporating base oils into the production of goods at the Italian production site in Bari – Saneg Oil Italy, which acted as the project operator for obtaining the REACH registration.
