Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The installation and commissioning of new light signaling equipment at Ferghana International Airport have been completed. The project was implemented by Uzbekistan Airports in collaboration with the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The new equipment meets the international ICAO CAT-I standards and has successfully passed flight testing.
The previously used equipment, the OMI "Luch-4u" type, installed in 1984, had become outdated both technically and morally, far exceeding its service life. It did not meet modern safety requirements and had been criticized by aircraft crews, as it allowed landing only from one approach direction with insufficient lighting levels.
Given that the aerodrome is shared with the Ministry of Defense, the decision was made to modernize the light signaling system. The new system will provide accurate landing approaches from both directions according to ICAO CAT-I standards, both during the day and at night, even under challenging weather conditions, with visibility on the runway of 750x60 meters. This will significantly enhance flight safety and improve service quality at Ferghana Airport.
