Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Fatwa Center of the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan has withdrawn a an article claiming that trading in cryptocurrencies such as bitcoins and notcoins is not approved by Sharia law in Islam.
The Center’s statement states that the article was published due to a technical error.
It is noted that the director of the Fatwa Center, Sheikh Nuriddin Kholiknazar, and his deputies are currently on the hajj. Research work on the draft fatwa on cryptocurrency trading has not been completed.
The center apologizes and says the fatwa will be reissued once scientific research is completed.
