Fair “The World of Leisure” starts in Uzbek capital
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- International Uzbek Tourism Fair “The World of Leisure” kicked off at the NEC “Uzexpocentre” in Tashkent on 18 April 2013.

The “The World of leisure” exhibition is aimed to develop the domestic tourism in Uzbekistan. It presents a possible disclosure of national coloring in the resort areas, health and fitness, training, and also architectural - historical tourism.

The exhibition was organized by Uzbektourism national company and Great Silk Road Advertisement Agency of Uzbektourism.

International Uzbek Tourism Fair “The World of Leisure” is held at official support of the UNTWP, Ministry of Culture and Sport Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Investment and Trade of Uzbekistan and Tashkent city administration.

The exhibition opens spring-summer tourism season of Uzbekistan and directed at developing tourism in Uzbekistan, both inbound and outbound tourism. It is expected that Festival of pilaf “PilafFest” will also attract large number of visitors to exhibition and Uzbekistan as a whole.

The exhibition will allow tourism business players to exchange experience and present their companies, as well as establish business contacts.

The event also includes several presentation, roundtables, workshops, master classes, etc. In particular, Aznur Travel, Ark Osiyo, national tourism administration of Zagreb (Croatia) and Spain’s Viajes Ancodes presented their organizations and products.

One of key event of the exhibition was a workshop “Gastronomic tourism” of the Business Council of UNWTO, which was held on 18 April. During the event, the participants familiarized with latest trends of gastronomic tourism in the world. Gastronomic tourism is becoming popular direction of tourism and it helps people to familiarize with national cuisines, food and traditions.

At the workshop, local tour operators, who attract foreign tourists into Uzbekistan, internet-projects, students of universities, representatives of restaurants and hotels improved their knowledge in the area.

The fair also hosted a roundtable of UNDP titled “New model of tourism and nature use in Uzbekistan in example of Lower Amudarya state biosphere reserve”

Representatives of tourism business and other interested organizations considered development of tourism in biosphere reserve at the roundtable.

On 19 April, the fair will host the festival “PilafFest”. Local cooks will present various types of pilafs. In particular, cooks will hold master classes.

Chiefs will cook wedding pilaf, chayhana pilaf, Tashkent pilaf, Samarkand pilaf, Khorezm pilaf, Asaka pilaf, Namangan devzira pilaf, Karavan pilaf, etc.
