External debt of Uzbekistan does not exceed 10% - Uzbek leader
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- External debt of Uzbekistan does not exceeds 10% (of gross domestic product), President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov said at the joint session of the Legislative Chamber and Senate of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan on 12 November.

The Uzbek leader said that the GDP gross in Uzbekistan for last incomplete 20 years of independent development grew by 3.5 times and GDP per capita by 2.5 times. The growth of real income of population made up 3.8 times, he said.

He said that economic growth of Uzbekistan in the period of global economic crisis attracted serious interest of international structures, experts and specialists. He said that the growth of GDP in Uzbekistan made up 9% in 2008, 8.1% in 2009, adding that the GDP growth is expected at 8.5% in 2010 and 8.3% in 2011.

The Uzbek leader said: “When there are serious concerns over external debts of the countries, especially in developed states, in Uzbekistan the external debt does not exceed 10%, while the State Budget is executed with surplus for last five years.”

Uzbek President noted that achievements are part of long and difficult path to goal, which the country put as an object – to construct open democratic legal state with sustainable development of economy and respected society in the world.

He said: “The most dangerous, which could be barrier in our way, are euphoria and complacency with achievement, ignoring reality, which could negatively reflect to efficiency and perspectives of the country’s development.”

He said that in the period of globalization and increasing competition, the country rate developments in the world with a look of reality and self-criticism and keep abreast of the requirements of the times.

Uzbek President Islam Karimov said that the life is not staying in place and the victorious is that nation, which has programme and strategy of its implementation, including firm targets and priorities, and take into account possible crisis and growth and collapse of global economy.
