EU Preparing New Sanctions Against Banks in Central Asia
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Brussels plans to include restrictions on several financial institutions in two Central Asian countries as part of its 19th package of anti-Russian sanctions, Reuters reported, citing European diplomats.
The specific countries and banks have not yet been named.
European Council President António Costa noted that the new measures will be closely coordinated with the United States.
According to him, Brussels is counting on strengthening cooperation with Washington after disagreements earlier this year, when President Donald Trump held separate talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
