Estimated price of Pfizer coronavirus vaccine for EU announced

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - The price of a coronavirus vaccine developed by the American Pfizer and the German BioNTech for the European Union countries will be 15.5 euros per dose, Reuters reports, citing an EU official who participated in the negotiations on the supply.

Thus, the price of 300 million doses of Pfizer and BioNTech vaccines, which the head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen announced plans to buy earlier, will amount to € 4.6 billion, the agency calculated, RBC writes about this.

A European Commission spokesman declined to comment on vaccine prices and contract terms to Reuters, saying they were confidential. BioNTech declined to comment. Pfizer said it used a complex formula based on volume and timing of shipments to calculate the price of shipments to the EU, and said the deal with the EU represents the largest initial vaccine order yet to be completed in clinical trials. The company also did not disclose the price stipulated by the agreement with the EU.

Reuters also said, citing sources, that the price of a dose of the German vaccine CureVac will be € 10 for Brussels for the first 225 million doses (the official price set by the company is € 12). The European Union has signed an agreement for the delivery of 405 million doses of the German company, according to a Reuters source, deliveries may begin in March. A spokesman for CureVac declined to comment.
