Entrepreneur urges Uzbek Authorities to revoke new electricity payment regulation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Ulugbek Sultanov, the founder of the company Perfect Invest Business, has appealed to the authorities of Uzbekistan to revoke the new electricity payment regulation for legal entities.

According to the new rules, approved by a Cabinet of Ministers resolution on 31 May, legal entities must pay double the tariff if they exceed 10% of the allocated electricity limit specified in the contract.

This request was voiced during an open dialogue with food product manufacturers in Tashkent.

Ulugbek Sultanov noted that even foreign experts have assessed this regulation as punitive for producers. He emphasized that points 85 and 150 of these rules should be abolished.

Sultanov also pointed out that the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan is trying to compensate for its shortcomings at the expense of entrepreneurs by introducing 2-3-fold payments. He suggested that the Ministry reform its system, similar to how the Tax Committee did.

He also drew attention to point 150 of the rules, which envisages triple payments for additional losses of active energy due to insufficient compensation of reactive power, and proposed to abolish this regulation.

The Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Davron Vakhabov, promised to convey the entrepreneur’s proposal to the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan.
