Enterprises in Uzbekistan produced industrial products worth 505.8 trillion soums.

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — According to preliminary data, from January to August 2024, enterprises in Uzbekistan produced industrial goods valued at 505.8 trillion soums. The industrial production index compared to the same period in 2023 was 106.9%, as reported by the Statistics Agency.

As of today, there are 63,400 industrial enterprises operating in the country, with 11,100 (17.6% of the total) located in Tashkent, 6,600 (10.4%) in Ferghana, 6,500 (10.3%) in Tashkent Region, 5,300 (8.4%) in Samarkand, and 5,200 (8.1%) in Andijan Region.

An analysis of industrial production per capita for January-August 2024 showed a significant excess over the national average (13.68 million soums) in Navoi Region (81.21 million soums), Tashkent (32.98 million soums), and Tashkent Region (26.81 million soums).

The manufacturing industry holds the largest share of production at 83.2%, with a production volume of 420.7 trillion soums.

In the January-August 2024 period, the largest contributions to the total industrial production came from Tashkent (19.9%), Navoi Region (17.3%), Tashkent Region (16.3%), Andijan Region (9.5%), Ferghana Region (5.0%), and Samarkand Region (5.0%).

Compared to the same period in 2023, average industrial production across the country increased, driven by enterprises in Surkhandarya (+8.3%), Andijan (+8.1%), Namangan (+8.1%) regions, Tashkent (+8.0%), Ferghana (+7.9%), and Navoi (+7.6%) regions.

The volume of products produced by mining and quarrying enterprises from January to August 2024 reached 43.2 trillion soums, or 8.5% of total industrial production.

Manufacturing enterprises produced goods worth 420.7 trillion soums during the same period, accounting for 83.2% of total industrial output.

In the manufacturing sector, high-tech industries made up 1.4% of the output (the same percentage as in January-August 2023), medium-high-tech industries 22.9% (compared to 24.2%), medium-low-tech industries 39.5% (compared to 37.8%), and low-tech industries 36.2% (compared to 36.5%).

Within the manufacturing sector, the share of enterprises producing, repairing, and installing machinery and equipment, manufacturing motor vehicles, trailers, and semi-trailers, and producing other finished metal products amounted to 20.9% (with a production index of 108.2% compared to January-August 2023). The metallurgical industry made up 25.4% (with a production index of 106.6% compared to the same period in 2023), and the textile, clothing, and leather goods industries accounted for 16.0% (with a production index of 110.0%).

In the food, beverage, and tobacco manufacturing sector, the share stood at 16.2% (with a production index of 104.2% compared to the same period in 2023), and for chemical products, rubber, and plastic goods, it was 7.9% (with a production index of 108.2%).

From January to August 2024, the country produced 896,000 tons of automotive gasoline (up by 0.4% compared to the same period in 2023), 417,400 tons of cotton yarn (up by 12.0%), 184.3 million liters of beer (down by 1.1%), and 593,800 tons of flour from soft wheat and spelt (down by 12.7%).

During the same period, large enterprises in the republic produced 2,158 trucks (a 23.3% increase compared to January-August 2023).

Large enterprises also produced 518 buses, a decrease of 0.8% compared to the same period in 2023.

In the automotive industry from January to August 2024, 102,052 Cobalt cars were produced (an increase of 56.0% compared to the same period in 2023), 5,190 Chery vehicles (a decrease of 19.2%), 12,795 KIA cars (up by 21.8%), 12,837 Gentra vehicles (down by 75.6%), 59,545 Damas cars (up by 13.3%), 17,321 specialized passenger vehicles (up by 26.4%), 27,454 Tracker vehicles (up by 12.2%), 21,607 Onix vehicles (up by 16.6%), six Lada vehicles, and 1,390 Haval vehicles.

Additionally, large enterprises produced 5.025 million bumpers from January to August 2024, representing a 45.9% increase compared to the same period in 2023.

From January to August 2024, large enterprises in the machinery sector produced 620,200 units of lead-acid batteries for starting piston engines, marking a 14.5% decrease compared to the same period in 2023.

During the same period, large enterprises in the country produced 295,400 refrigerators and freezers, representing a 45.0% decline from the corresponding period in 2023.

Capital refurbishment of technological equipment allowed for an increase in the capacity utilization of chemical enterprises, resulting in higher production of sodium carbonate (107.0% compared to January-August 2023) and potassium chloride (107.4% compared to January-August 2023).

As of January-August 2024, the metallurgical industry accounted for 25.4% of the manufacturing sector, with a 6.6% increase in production volume and total output reaching 106.8 trillion soums.

The share of other non-metallic mineral products in the manufacturing sector during this period was 4.9%, with a 12.8% increase in production volume, and the total output amounted to 20.7 trillion soums.

The food industry constituted 12.2% of the manufacturing sector, with a production index of 102.8% and total output of 51.2 trillion soums from January to August 2024.

The beverage production sector made up 3.4% of the manufacturing industry, with a production index of 105.0% and an output of 14.2 trillion soums.

The textile industry’s share in the manufacturing sector was 11.3%, with a 10.3% increase in production volume, reaching 47.5 trillion soums.

The clothing industry represented 4.2% of the manufacturing sector, with a 9.2% increase in production volume and a total output of 17.5 trillion soums.

Chemical products constituted 5.6% of the manufacturing sector, with a 2.3% increase in production volume and a total output of 23.7 trillion soums.

Coke and refined petroleum products made up 4.1% of the manufacturing sector, with a 0.8% increase in production volume and total output of 17.1 trillion soums.

The production of rubber and plastic goods accounted for 2.2% of the manufacturing sector, with a 133.5% increase in production volume and total output of 9.4 trillion soums.

Electrical equipment production constituted 3.0% of the manufacturing sector, with a production index of 103.3% and a total output of 12.8 trillion soums.

The manufacture of finished metal products, excluding machinery and equipment, accounted for 1.9% of the manufacturing sector, with a production index of 87.2% and total output of 7.9 trillion soums.

The production of motor vehicles, trailers, and semi-trailers accounted for 12.7% of the manufacturing sector, with a production index of 106.9% and total output of 53.5 trillion soums.

The output of enterprises in electricity supply, gas, steam, and air conditioning during the period amounted to 38.9 trillion soums (7.7% of total industrial output).

Compared to the same period in 2023, the production of electricity in January-August 2024 amounted to 94.0%, and thermal energy to 95.4%.

Water supply, sewerage, waste collection, and disposal enterprises produced 3.0 trillion soums in output (0.6% of total industry) during January-August 2024.

Compared to January-August 2023, there was a 6.5% decrease in textile waste production, a 1.7-fold increase in wastewater removal, transportation, and treatment services, and a 0.5% increase in cesspit, sediment tank, and septic tank cleaning and treatment services.

From January to August 2024, small businesses produced 145.3 trillion soums worth of products, representing 28.7% of total industrial output, compared to 25.9% for the same period in 2023.
