Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Tuscan club Empoli has expressed interest in Uzbek striker Eldor Shomurodov, who currently plays for AS Roma.
According to Sky Sport journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Empoli representatives have already initiated talks with Roma regarding a possible transfer of the forward in January.
As reported by Corriere dello Sport, Shomurodov is seen as a potential solution to Empoli’s attacking struggles, given the team’s difficulty in scoring goals this season.
However, Empoli is not the only club eyeing the striker. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Sardinian side Cagliari is also monitoring the situation and is ready to propose terms for his transfer.
Tuttosport notes that the deal may be structured as a loan with a purchase option, allowing either Empoli or Cagliari to minimize risks while assessing Shomurodov’s impact on their squad.
Shomurodov has previously attracted interest from other Serie A clubs and even considered a move to the Saudi Pro League. However, as reported by Sky Sport Italia, the player prefers to remain in Italy, where he hopes to secure more playing time and regain his form.
