Employees of information service undergo training in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A workshop “Improvement of activities of information service of the state bodies and administration – important condition for effective interaction with the society” was held in Tashkent on 14 November 2013.

It was organized by the Independent Institute on monitoring of formation of civil society (IMFCS) at the support of the UN Development Programme in Uzbekistan.

The workshop is aimed at implementing tasks, outlined by the President of Uzbekistan in the concept of further deepening democratic reforms and forming civil society in the country, reforming information spheres, ensuring freedom of speech and access to information, openness of the state bodies.

Representatives of information services of the state bodies and administration of all regions, Tashkent city, Karakalpakstan, ministries and departments participated at the workshop.

The workshop participants discussed issues of liberalizing information sphere, ensuring free access to information and speech freedom, legislation in the sphere, interaction with mass media, etc.

The participants were also familiarized with legal framework on informing the community on activities of the state bodies and administration, access of information by citizens and mass media.

They also discussed a draft law “On openness of activities of the state bodies and administration”, which is currently tested in Bukhara and Samarkand region. They considered activities of information services, cooperation with mass media, and other issues.
