Elon Musk presents a prototype of a humanoid robot

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The head of the American electric car manufacturer Tesla, Elon Musk, presented on Friday a prototype of the humanoid robot Optimus, TASS reports.

During the Tesla AI Day event, a test robot prototype took the stage and waved to those in the audience. Musk then showed a video of a robot dragging a box and watering flowers.

At the same time, the head of Tesla noted that "there is still a lot of work to improve Optimus and test it." According to his forecasts, the robot will be perfect in 5-10 years. "I think Optimus is going to be incredible in five or 10 years, just mind blowing," he said.

The robot will use Tesla-designed components, including a battery that sits on its torso, a chip system, and actuators to control its limbs. At the same time, the autopilot system, which is used on Tesla electric vehicles, will be installed in it.

The American entrepreneur also said that the robot would cost less than US$20,000. “This [robot] will cost a lot less than a car. I would say probably less than US$20,000,” Musk said.

The idea of creating a robot was announced by the head of Tesla in August 2021. According to the project presented then, Optimus will be the size of a person, be able to lift a weight of about 20 kg and help a person with everyday tasks. As the entrepreneur stated, the smart mechanism will do everything that people “do not want” to do, for example, go to the grocery store.
