Apart from the suspension, the player has also been ordered to pay a fine of US$3,000.
The committee found that Al Shammari was sent off in the match for spitting at an Al Jaish player, which was in violation of Article 47 (j) of the AFC Disciplinary Code, and further aggravated his violation by spitting again on the same player and another Al Jaish player.
The members were of the view that Al Shammari violated Article 48 (e) and Article 57 of the AFC Disciplinary Code and suspended the player for an additional two matches for repeating the act apart from the prescribed six matches.
Al Shammari has already served the first of his eight-match suspension during Kazma’s 1-0 victory over Lebanon’s Al Ahed on Wednesday. He will miss the remaining four group matches of his side in the AFC Cup and will sit out in the three subsequent matches of the club at the confederation level.
The player has a right to appeal against the decision.
