Uzbekistan 06/05/2009 Egyptian Foreign Minister receives Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Foreign Minister of Egypt, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, received Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Rustam Qosimov, who heads his country’s delegation in the Uzbek-Egyptian Joint Commission on Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation, which is to conclude its works in Cairo on 5 May 2009.

During his meeting with Aboul Gheit, the Uzbek official praised the bilateral relations between Egypt and Uzbekistan and the close fraternal ties between President Mubarak and President Karimov. He also expressed his country’s appreciation for Egypt’s major role in supporting stability and moderation in the Middle East and Africa, as well as the role of the Egyptian Fund for Technical Cooperation with Commonwealth countries in providing support for Uzbekistan.

On the other hand, Aboul Gheit reviewed the joint commission works and the agreements reached between both countries, particularly in the field of exporting Egyptian medicine to Uzbekistan. Both sides agreed upon the available wide horizons for mutual investment and the importance of promoting bilateral cooperation in all fields.

The two officials also discussed the regional issues of common concern, most important of which is the peace process in the Middle East and the situations in Central Asia, and exchanged viewpoints regarding the Afghan dossier and the situation in Pakistan as well.
