Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan and Egypt are exploring opportunities for collaboration in the modernization of water supply systems in Samarkand region.
The Uzbek Embassy in Cairo organized online negotiations involving representatives from Veolia in Uzbekistan, JSC "Uzsuvta’minot," the khokimiyats of Samarkand city and Samarkand region, as well as strategic manager of The Bell Group, Haysam Hussein, and other officials from various ministries and departments, as reported by the "Dunyo" agency.
The parties discussed the implementation of joint projects to modernize water supply, sewage, and heating systems in the districts and cities of Samarkand region, as well as water resource management.
The Egyptian side expressed its readiness to implement prospective projects in the water sector throughout the region, establish a specialized management body to enhance the efficiency of the system and rational use of water resources, and attract necessary investments.
As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached to develop project concepts that will be implemented in the Samarkand region in the near future, as well as a draft memorandum of cooperation between The Bell Group and Veolia.
