Egypt Assistant Minister holds meeting with Uzbek officials
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Assistant Minister for Asian Affairs of Egypt, Ambassador Ahmed Fathallah, delivered a letter from the Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit to his Uzbek Counterpart Mr. Vladimir Norov, addressing the means of strengthening bilateral relations in all fields based upon the strong and longstanding friendship binding Egypt and Uzbekistan and the common religious and historical ties.

The talks also dealt with the key issues of mutual interest mainly the situation in the Middle East, the efforts exerted to solve the Palestinian issue, in addition to the recent developments in Central Asia, particularly the Afghani affair besides other regional and international issues, Egypt Foreign Ministry said on 16 August 2010.

This meeting has been preceded by talks between the Ambassador Fathallah and the Uzbek Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Salehbayev and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Economic Relations Nasreddin Najimov, wherein they discussed the means to consolidate joint cooperation especially in light of Egypt's holding the current chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement in addition to the OIC as of March 2011.

They also discussed ideas on the future of the Non-Aligned Movement and its role on the international arena, as well as the bilateral relations between the two sides in all areas to prepare for the seventh Joint Commission in Tashkent in the coming months.
