Economic and investment potential of Uzbekistan presented in France

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A presentation of economic and investment potential of Uzbekistan was held in France, Jahon news agency reported.

The event was organized by the administration of Rueil-Malmaison, twin city of Bukhara, and was attended by the representatives of over 50 companies, public and municipal organizations, etc.

The participants received information on investment climate of Uzbekistan and conditions, created at Navoi free industrial and economic zone, Jizzakh special industrial zone and Angren special industrial zone, as well as international logistic center Navoi.

The special attention was paid to necessity to establish cooperation with the French companies, which possess advanced technologies, and their participation in projects on production of chemical, food, textile, machinery and pharmaceutical products.

Mayor of Rueil-Malmaison Patrick Ollier said that the Frenchside is interested in establishing partnership with Uzbekistan. He said that the main factor for developing of relations is twin-town relations between Bukhara and Rueil-Malmaison. He said that administrations of two cities have close relations and regularly exchange delegation, as well as support cultural-humanitarian interaction.

He said that the common goal of two states is to provide information about Uzbekistan to French companies and create necessary conditions for doing business. He said that the presentation will help to attract investments into industry of Uzbekistan.

During the meeting, the sides considered issues of cooperation, preferences in Uzbekistan for foreign investors, social-economic reforms, etc.

Vice-President of Thales Michel Ricard said that diversified economy of Uzbekistan and high skilled specialists attract foreign investors.

He said that Thales and Oberthur Technologies work on issuing of biometric passports in Uzbekistan. He said that the French companies want to expand cooperation with Uzbekistan Havo Yollari, develop project on join telecommunication satellite and plan to hold talks with the Uzbek mobile operators on introduction of GSM 4G system.

Air Liquide Vice President Christophe Fontaine briefed the participants on long-term investment programme, implemented in Uzbekistan, including in energy sector.

He said that the company is interested in construction of plant of industrial gases as there will be high demand for them in such areas as chemical, oil processing and metallurgy industries. He said that Uzbekneftegaz and Air Liquide signed a protocol of cooperation in production of industrial gases and became new stage of business cooperation.
