Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has provided UzCarlsberg, a subsidiary of Carlsberg Group, with a loan of up to US$6 million (€5.7 million) to replenish its working capital, according to the bank's press service.

The funds will be used to purchase ingredients, packaging, and manage seasonal inventory, which will improve operational efficiency and contribute to enhancing food safety standards in Uzbekistan. The loan will provide the company with additional flexibility amid increased demand for its products during the summer months.

Since 2022, UzCarlsberg has been an EBRD client and remains the only producer of beer under international brands in the country. The project is being implemented with the support of the Japan-EBRD Cooperation Fund.

Uzbekistan has remained the leading recipient of EBRD financing in Central Asia for the past five years. To date, the bank has invested over €5.5 billion in the country through 174 projects, with a primary focus on developing the private sector.
