Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The American company eBay has officially registered as a taxpayer in Uzbekistan.

The company will now pay value-added tax (VAT).

In addition to eBay, major giants such as Netflix, Amazon, Google, Apple, Zoom, and others have also registered with the special tax office for foreign internet companies.

As of today, there are 64 foreign companies paying VAT in Uzbekistan.

According to the Tax Committee, from January to September 2024, 61 foreign companies providing electronic services in Uzbekistan contributed 101.9 billion soums in taxes to the national budget.

This is 2.1 times higher than for the same period last year.

It is worth noting that in December 2024, Uzbekistan introduced new requirements for companies providing e-commerce services.

Now, all companies providing e-commerce services are required to register a legal entity in Uzbekistan. Large players such as eBay and Amazon do not yet have a representation in the country, which creates uncertainty regarding their future operations in the local market.
