Earthquake with epicenter in Kyrgyzstan felt in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  An earthquake with its epicenter in Kyrgyzstan was felt in Uzbekistan, as reported by the Republican Center for Seismic Prognostic Monitoring under the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

The earthquake occurred on 24 August at 01:33 Tashkent time.

The epicenter’s coordinates were 39.82 degrees north latitude and 71.39 degrees east longitude. The earthquake had a magnitude of 4.7 and a depth of 10 km. The epicenter is located 244 km southeast of Tashkent.

The intensity of the tremors in Uzbekistan was recorded as follows:

- Sokh District: 2-3 on the Richter scale, 37 km from the epicenter;

- Ferghana District: 2, 61 km;

- Rishtan District: 2, 62 km;

- Fergana city: 2, 71 km;

- Kuvasay city: 2, 72 km;

- Altyaryk District: 2, 72 km;

- Uzbekistan District: 2, 73 km;

- Baghdad District: 2, 76 km;

- Margilan city: 2, 76 km.
