Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 28 January 2019, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the EU Dilyor Khakimov met with the delegation of the European Union, which will visit Uzbekistan on February 4-7 to hold talks on the draft Agreement on Extended Partnership and Cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the EU.
Deputy Managing Director of the European External Action Service, Luc Devin, will head the delegation, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
During the conversation, the parties held final consultations and coordination of organizational and substantive issues that anticipate the start of the negotiation process.
The sides emphasized the importance and key character of the developed document for future relations between the EU and our country in the context of deep political and socio-economic reforms in Uzbekistan, initiated by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
It was especially noted that today in the European institutions a very friendly and respectful attitude towards Uzbekistan has been formed thanks to the reforms being carried out. It was emphasized that the dynamics of multifaceted and systemic contacts between Uzbekistan and the European Union allows to speak positively about the nature of the upcoming discussions.
