Digital television has been introduced in Samarkand
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Terrestrial digital TV broadcasting in DVB-T (Digital Video Broadcasting-Terrestrial) standard has been introduced in Samarkand city of Uzbekistan. In September, digital TV transmitter, produced in Germany by Rohde & Schwarz, was installed and commission in the city.

State Unitary Enterprise “Center of radio communication, radio broadcasting ad television” (CRRT) is also conducting work on introduction of digital television in Andijan, Kashkadarya, Khorezm regions and Karakalpakstan Republic in 2011.

Uzbekistan started to introduce Terrestrial digital TV broadcasting in DVB-T standard as long as many other developed countries of the world.

In line with the CRRT decision from 25 February 2010, the plan on transfer to Terrestrial digital TV broadcasting in Uzbekistan for 2010-2015 was approved. Uzbekistan pays special attention to introduction of digital television.

The CRRT, which is responsible for introduction of the digital TV broadcasting, is developing the state programme of action plan on transfer to digital TV broadcasting in Uzbekistan for 2010-2018.

In September 2008, the CRRT is organized experimental exploitation of digital television in Tashkent and Bukhara cities. In October 2009, the digital TV broadcasting was launched for commercial exploitation with four channels – O’zbekiston, Yoshlar, Toshkent and Sport, as well as eight commercial channels.

In June 2010, one more digital TV transmitter was introduced in Tashkent and number of broadcasted TV channels rose to 25. It is planned that number of digital TV channels will reach 36 by the end of 2010.

UzDigital TV LLC has been founded to render paid television service to population. The company uses modern technologies to ensure high quality of broadcasted channels.
