Development of Uzbekistan’s agriculture sector from 2020 to 2024

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Experts from the Institute for Macroeconomic and Regional Studies (IMRI) under the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan have analyzed the country’s agricultural development over the past five years.

In 2024, Uzbekistan’s gross agricultural output reached 444.6 trillion soums, marking an 18.5% increase over five years. The sector's average annual growth rate stood at 3.5%.

Uzbekistan’s agricultural sector remains a regional leader, surpassing Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan in gross agricultural production, highlighting its scale and strategic importance.

According to the World Bank, the added value per agricultural worker in Uzbekistan is 4.4 times higher than the global average, indicating the sector’s efficiency and rising productivity.

Despite the country’s growing population, per capita production of key agricultural products has steadily increased:

Grain – 238.2 kg (+7.6% over five years)

Potatoes – 100.0 kg (+8.7%)

Vegetables – 322.7 kg (+6.1%)

Fruits and berries – 88.0 kg (+7.4%)

Grapes – 49.1 kg (+2.9%)

Melons and gourds – 72.2 kg (+17.2%)

Meat – 79.2 kg (+7.5%)

Milk – 334.8 kg (+4.9%)

Eggs – 236.9 units (+2.4%)

The steady growth in these indicators reflects the sector’s rapid advancement and the success of Uzbekistan’s efforts to prioritize food security.
