Deposits of population reach 2.979 trln. soums

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As of 1 October 2011, the volume of deposits of individuals - residents of Uzbekistan in commercial banks on local and foreign currency accounts was 2.979 trillion soums and has increased in comparison with the beginning of the year by 18.3% (461.4 billion soums).

The State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said that as of 1 October 2011, savings of individuals on foreign currency accounts in soum equivalent amounted to 548.9 billion soums (18.4% to the total volume of deposits) and have increased by 28.7%.

The committee said that five commercial banks account 68.8% of population savings or 2.049 trillion soums.

At the same time 25% of deposits (744.5 billion soums) fell to share of People’s Bank of Uzbekistan, 15% (446.9 billio soums) to Agrobank and 12.9% (383 billion soums) to National Bank of Uzbekistan for Foreign Economic Activity (NBU). Share of Asaka Bank and Uzpromstroybank made up 9% and 7% respectively.

Population of Uzbekistan deposit their main part of currency resources at NBU (20.5% of total deposits in hard currency), Kapitalbank (19.5%), Asaka Bank (18.4%) and Hamkorbank (14.9%).
