Demolition of the "Chorsu" Hotel begins in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The demolition of the "Chorsu" hotel has begun in Tashkent. The hotel, built in 1982-1983, was originally named "Moscow" but was renamed "Chorsu" after Uzbekistan gained independence. The hotel closed in the early 2000s.

This 1,000-bed hotel complex consisted of 23 floors, with the first two floors designated for a restaurant, banquet hall, and administrative spaces.

The building was designed with architectural features, and its lower part formed a platform composition, with tall walls that harmoniously connected to the historic Kukeldash Madrasah nearby.

On 2 November 2024, a reconstruction project for the Chorsu Square was presented in Tashkent.

According to the project, a new hotel, business center, and residential buildings will be constructed in the area. The project was developed by the German architectural firm Tchoban Voss Architekten.

Construction work is set to begin in 2025 and will last for three and a half years, with the complex expected to open in 2029.

The ambitious project, which exceeds US$170 million in cost, will be implemented by a consortium of Uzbek and foreign investors.
