Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  On 22 October, an official visit by the delegation from the Republic of Karelia, led by the Head of the region, Artur Parfenchikov, commenced in Tashkent. This was reported by the Trade Representation of Russia in Uzbekistan.

On the first day of the visit, Artur Parfenchikov met with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Russia to Uzbekistan, Oleg Malginov, and the Trade Representative of Russia in Uzbekistan, Konstantin Zlygostev.

Additionally, the Deputy Trade Representative, Igor Kamynin, held a meeting with the General Director of the "Development Corporation of the Republic of Karelia," Elena Klimchuk, and participants of the regional business mission, which included 16 companies engaged in the production of pulp and paper products, food products, clothing, construction materials, and mining and metallurgical equipment.

Several Karelia companies expressed interest in localizing production in Uzbekistan.

As part of the visit, a business forum titled "Karelia and Uzbekistan: Partnership for Economic Development and Investment Cooperation" was held, focusing on the presentation of the trade, economic, and investment potential of the Republic of Karelia, as well as conducting B2B meetings.

Konstantin Zlygostev emphasized that such a visit by a delegation composed of both officials and business representatives, combined with the business forum, represents a working format for the region that can yield significant results for cooperation with Uzbekistan in the medium term.
