The sides noted that the visit of the Uzbek President Islam Karimov to Brussels on 24 January 2011 and meetings with the EU leaders gave new impulse for expanding interaction in various areas based on equality and mutual beneficial partnership.

The achieved agreements open new perspectives of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the EU in energy and financial-technical spheres.

The sides underlined the dynamics of cooperation between Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan and European Parliament.

The sides exchanged opinion on implementation of the EU Strategy for Central Asia. The sides said that it is impossible to implement strategy effectively without investments.

MEPs were briefed on the position of Uzbekistan on water-energy issues in the Central Asian region on their request. The Uzbek side adheres to principle position that it is inadmissible to construct large hydro power stations at trans-boundary rivers. These issues should be solved on commonly accepted norms and principles of international law with agreement of all countries of the region.

The sides also discussed issues of mutual interest.
