Days of European Education takes place in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Days of European Education in Uzbekistan kicked off in Tashkent on 11 November 2013, which was organized at the initiative of the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Uzbekistan in cooperation with the embassies of EU member-states in Tashkent and the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialised Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The purpose of this initiative is to inform the public about increasing EU support to the development of higher education in Uzbekistan, further enhancement of inter-university cooperation within joint projects between higher education institutions and expansion of scholarship programmes for studying in the European Union.

A number of events will be organized throughout Uzbekistan to inform about various opportunities under EU programmes in the field of higher education, Erasmus Mundus and Tempus, aimed at strengthening partnerships and mutually beneficial cooperation between higher education institutions in Uzbekistan and the European Union, as well as their further development in the framework of a new programme, Erasmus Plus (2014-2020).

The main event under Days of European Education in Uzbekistan, Education Fair "Study in the European Union" will be held on 11-12 November 2013 in Tashkent Architecture and Construction Institute.

The embassies of Germany, France, Poland and Slovakia in Tashkent will organize exhibition stands about study opportunities and scholarships in their countries. Education in the UK will be presented by the British Council in Uzbekistan. Thanks to participation of National Agency of Lithuania for Development of International Cooperation, visitors will receive detailed information about study and inter-university cooperation with Lithuanian universities. Information on education in Romania will be presented by one of the Romanian universities with wide partnerships around the world. There will also be printed materials about opportunities in other European countries and a special website “Study in Europe”, created by the European Commission with regularly updated information in 7 languages on 32 European states.

Representatives of five new Erasmus Mundus partnerships are participating at the exhibition and will present scholarship opportunities at European universities in 2014.

In addition to the exhibition stands, reports will be delivered during the Fair on study and scholarship opportunities in the European Union. The representative of World Association of Erasmus Mundus Alumni will deliver a talk on “How to write a good application for Erasmus Mundus scholarship”. Tempus project participants from Westminster International University in Tashkent will hold workshops on preparing CV and Motivation letters. Presentations of the British Council will present English language learning opportunities and IELTS procedures in Uzbekistan. The representative of the French Institute will give a presentation about studying in France and scholarship application requirements.

On the first day of the Fair, on 11 November Tempus project poster presentations was made on the results of long-term cooperation between higher education institutions in Uzbekistan and the European Union.

The annual collection of articles "Tempuc IV in Uzbekistan - 2013" was also presented on 11 November with case studies of project activities and sustainable partnerships with European universities.
