Customs officers of Tashkent airport seize 12.5kg of gold
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Customs officers of Tashkent International Airport prevented two attempts of illegal movement of gold with total weight of 12.5 kg, the press service of Uzbek State Customs Committee said.

The committee said that customs officers arrested citizen of Uzbekistan O.Saidnasirov after customs clearance of passengers, who was flying from Tashkent to Istanbul. He attempted to smuggle 2.5 kg of gold, which was hidden in his luggage.

A day later, customs officers of Tashkent International Airport detained two citizens of Uzbekistan, who tried to smuggle 10 kg of gold. Gold was also hidden in luggage.

State Customs Committee said that investigations are underway on both cases.

According to State Customs Committee, customs officers revealed 371 cases of gold smuggling in 2012 and seized 34 kg of gold.
