Consumers with waste collection debts will not be disconnected from electricity

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  Consumers who have debts for waste collection will not be disconnected from electricity. This was stated by the Regional Electric Networks Company, refuting information circulating on social media.

Reports emerged on social media that starting from 1 November, subscribers with outstanding waste collection debts would be completely disconnected from electricity.

The Regional Electric Networks Company emphasizes that, according to data from the Agency for Waste Management and the Development of Circular Economy under the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change, maintenance work will be carried out from October 31, 2024, at 23:50, until November 5, at 23:50, due to the launch of a new billing software called “Clean Space-Billing,” designed to enhance the convenience of users of waste collection and disposal services.

The agency also notified that during this period, there might be temporary technical interruptions in making payments for waste collection services and in accessing information about current data on personal accounts, including changes, additions, or deletions of subscriber data.

This information was misinterpreted on social media, leading to rumors about the potential disconnection of citizens with debts for waste disposal services from electricity.

Currently, the Regional Electric Networks Company is conducting technical work related to the introduction of practices for temporarily restricting the acceptance of electricity payments from individuals who have not settled their debts after receiving a warning about their outstanding waste disposal service fees, in accordance with the Presidential Decree of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Measures to Improve the Waste Management System and Reduce Negative Impacts on the Environmental Situation.”

In light of this, the company reiterates that the information regarding the disconnection of subscribers with waste disposal debts from electricity supply is unfounded.
