In December 2016, the share of the effect of food price increases on the total growth of the consumer price index (CPI) was 73.3%, non-food products - 22.2% and services - 4.5%.
Food products for month became more expensive on average by 4.4%, which ensured a general increase in the CPI by 1.9 percentage points. In December 2016, prices of food products went up by 2%.
Prices for fruits and vegetables (14.2%), cereals and pulses (by 10.3%), eggs (by 7.3%), flour (3.9%), dairy products 3%), sugar, tea and spices (by 2.4%), butter and fats (by 2%), meat, poultry and fish (by 1.3%) grew the most in December 2017.
In December 2017 there was a decline in prices for carrots by 15.9%, cabbage by 5.9%, mash by 4.7%, poultry meat - by 4.5% .
Non-food products rose 1.8% in December, which led to an increase in the CPI by 0.6 percentage points. In December 2016, the growth in prices for non-food products made up 0.8%.
About 75% of total increase in prices is the result of the growth of price of clothes - by 3.1%, personal hygiene products - 2.6%, household textiles - 2.3%, footwear - 2.2%, building materials - 1.8%, medicines - 1.7%, cultural goods - 1.7% and fabrics and yarn - 1.2%.
Paid services for population became more expensive by 0.8% in December. This led to an increase in the consolidated CPI by 0.2 percentage points. In December 2016, tariffs for services increased by 0.3%.
The main inflation factors in this sphere were increases in tariffs for legal and banking services - by 15.0%, household services by 1.6%, education services by 1.2% and medical services by 1.1%.
