Construction of the Presidential School starts in Nukus

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) –– On 7 March 2019, a ceremony of launching the construction of the Presidential School took place in Nukus (Republic of Karakalpakstan).

First Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Achilboy Ramatov, Prosecutor General of Uzbekistan Otabek Murodov, Deputy Minister of Public Education of Uzbekistan Ibrohim Juraev, Chairman Jokargy Kenes of the Republic of Karakalpakstan Musa Yerniyazov, representatives of ministries and departments attended the ceremony.

Achilboy Ramatov, Musa Yerniyazov and Sharap Usnatdinov, chairman of the council of the Karakalpak branch of Nuroniy Foundation, laid a capsule in the foundation of the Presidential School and launched the construction work. A new school will be built next to the Karakalpak State University named after Berdakh.

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the resolution “On Education Measures of Presidential Schools” on 20 February 2019.

According to the document, Presidential schools will be created in stages in all regions of the country. It was planned that the first three schools will be built in 2019 in Nukus, Tashkent and Khiva. Later it was decided to build in 2019 the Presidential School in Namangan. In the rest of Uzbekistan, Presidential schools will be built in 2020-2021.

Admission to Presidential schools will be carried out according to the results of tests for logical thinking, a written exam and interviews from among graduates of the 4th grade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, who will be selected by the Ministry of Public Education in the prescribed manner.

In the first academic year, the total number of students enrolled in grades 5-10 will be 144 students. The annual admission quota will be 24 students. In one class there will be 12 students.

The process of teaching Presidential schools is carried out in English under the STEAM - education program (Science - natural sciences, Technology - technologies, Engineering - technical creativity, Art - art, Mathematics - mathematics), which will enable talented youth to further develop their thinking, willpower , creativity and flexibility.

Depending on interests and peculiarities, students in grades 9-11, education at the Presidential School implies individualization of the educational process.

Graduates of Presidential schools, in addition to the state-approved education certificate, receive a diploma of a corresponding international level program (International Baccalaureate, Advanced Placement or International Advanced Levels), which provides an opportunity to enter leading foreign higher educational institutions.

The Examination Board (Syndicate) of the University of Cambridge, operating under the brand Cambridge Assessment International Education, is expected to conduct entrance exams for Presidential schools.
