Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 28 January 2020, social media reported that about 200 citizens from Central Asia, including citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan working in a local company, went on strike due to non-payment of wages.

In this regard, a meeting with the head of the administrative department of the company in order to clarify the situation was held at the Consulate General of the Republic of Uzbekistan in St. Petersburg with the participation of employees of the consulate general and chief specialist of the representative office of AVTM in the Russian Federation.

According to the company’s representative, there really was an incident on 27 January, which arose due to a misinterpretation of the terms of remuneration for employees working in the company.

The company representative noted that all foreign citizens who found a job before 1 January 2020, after 11 months of employment, receive an additional payment in the amount of a monthly salary as a bonus. Those who signed an employment contract after 1 January 2020, the above conditions do not apply due to the reduction in the volume of work and, accordingly, profit.

He also noted that newly arrived workers who signed the labor contract after 1 January 2020 incorrectly interpreted the terms of payment and informed the rest of the workers that the issuance of the bonus would be canceled for all citizens, who work in the company, which led to the dissatisfaction of the employees working in the company for a long time. time. In this regard, on 27 January, a group of 200 citizens arrived at the office of the company demanding payment of a bonus. To stabilize the situation, the employer was forced to attract law enforcement officers.

On 28 January, employer representatives met with the leaders of the teams and departments and explained the whole situation about the procedure for paying cash bonuses to employees.

At the moment, the situation in the company has stabilized, and the incident is completely over.
