Culture 06/09/2007 Conference on Tashkent concludes at IIUI
Uzbek Ambassador to Pakistan, Arif Usman, who declared Pakistan to be his second home also underlined the common faith, feelings and aspiration his people shared with the citizens of Pakistan. The Ambassador was speaking at the concluding session of the two-day conference on Tashkent at the International Islamic University Islamabad, Business Recorder reported.

’For Pakistan and its people my country has special regard and respect,’ he said. Three organisations, namely, the IIUI, the Embassy of Uzbekistan, the Society of Asian Civilisations. (SAC) and the Embassy of Uzbekistan organised the cultural conference, held on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Senator Talha Mahmood praised Uzbekistan for the manner of preservation of Islamic heritage treasures in Uzbekistan, and observed that Pakistan must learn some thing from these measures.

The senator is President of Pakistan-Uzbekistan friendship organisation also spoke in conference, which highlighted the grandeur of Tashkent President of the University, Dr Anwar Hussain Siddiqui said the people of Uzbekistan were proud of glorious destiny of their country since it was free of any crisis of identity that was plaguing Pakistan, for instance. Uzbeks were also clear headed about their association with the Muslim world, and added that the Muslims of Central Asia were reasserting their Islamic identity.
