Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Committee for Competition Development and Consumer Rights Protection of Uzbekistan has initiated a case against Nukus International Airport for violations of the “Law on Competition.”
The investigations revealed that the airport did not comply with the laws of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On Public Procurement" and "On Competition" when conducting tenders worth 120 million soums through the Public Procurement Portal.
According to Uzbekistan Airports, in July 2024, Nukus International Airport held a tender to select a supplier for the production of LED signs "NOKIS XALIQARALIQ AEROPORTI" and "NUKUS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT" with the Uzbekistan Airports logo for the airport facade. Seven companies participated in the competition. On 16 July 2024, Usnatdin Zamira Ok was declared the winner, with Qajimuxan Seyilxan as the reserve winner.
After the winner was announced, the company Bes Qala Stroy, which also participated in the tender, filed a complaint with the Committee regarding the unfair selection process. The company claimed that it did not receive enough points because it lacked experience in producing such signs, unlike the other participants.
During the review, the Competition Committee provided recommendations regarding the participant evaluation system in the tender selection process.
"The Committee did not initiate any legal proceedings (administrative, economic, or criminal). All the Committee’s recommendations were accepted and implemented by the airport," Uzbekistan Airports said.
