Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Committee for the Development of Competition and Protection of Consumer Rights of Uzbekistan has imposed fines on the joint-stock company UzJeldorPass and Shahar Atrofida Yulovchi Tashish for illegal commission charges from passengers.
According to the results of an investigation conducted under the laws "On Competition" and "On Protection of Consumer Rights," it was found that the Fergana branch of UzJeldorPass unlawfully collected around 660 million soms in 2023 by adding commissions to 606,380 tickets.
Similar violations were identified in the operations of the Fergana branch of Shahar Atrofida Yulovchi Tashish, which from 1 January to 24 July 2024, received approximately 560 million soms in excess charges from 185,806 tickets. In total, about 1.3 billion soms were unjustly collected from 792,186 passengers.
The Special Commission of the Committee reviewed the case and ordered the companies to refund the illegally collected funds to the passengers. Additionally, financial penalties were imposed, and mandatory directives were issued to rectify the violations and prevent future occurrences.
