Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  American news channel CNN has released a video highlighting the growth of the automotive industry in Uzbekistan, particularly focusing on the electric vehicle sector.

The report notes that the country is actively transitioning to the use of electric vehicles, reflecting its commitment to an eco-friendly future.

Over the past three years, electric vehicle sales in Uzbekistan have increased tenfold.

CNN emphasizes that most electric vehicles are imported from China, including those from BYD.

The channel highlights that BYD launched its electric vehicle production in Uzbekistan in June 2024, including hybrid SUVs.

Local companies, such as Megawatt Motors, are actively developing infrastructure for electric vehicles, establishing a network of charging stations and service centers.

According to CNN, electric vehicles currently make up only 10% of the total number of cars sold in Uzbekistan. Nevertheless, analysts point out that the development of this sector is a significant step for Uzbekistan in achieving its climate goals.
